Parliament-FAQ

Here you will find the answers to any general enquiries you may have.
If you have a question that is not covered by our FAQ, please feel free to get in touch.

How do I book a tattoo?

Unless otherwise stated our artists manage their own bookings individually. In order to make an enquiry/booking you will need to send your chosen artist an email directly. Please visit their respective page on our “Artists” section where you can locate their booking email address. There you will also find a list of information the Artist requires when booking in a tattoo. Please read this carefully and include as much information as you can, in order to make the process of booking as quick and easy as possible.

When enquiring, you may also receive an automated response highlighting any additional information the artist requires from you, and giving you further detail on the Artist’s booking process.

Do you have a long waiting list?

The length of time it takes to get an appointment depends on which artist you have chosen to get tattooed by. Some of our artists have longer wait times than others so please enquire directly via email.

What if my chosen artist’s books are closed?

Some of our artists have had to close their books due to the large volume of emails they receive. Generally speaking, artists try not to book up more than 3 months at a time and will periodically open their books on a quarterly basis. If you have emailed your chosen artists directly to find their books closed, the best thing to do is sign up to the Parliament Tattoo mailing list here. We always announce when artists will be opening their books first on our customer mailing list, ahead of Instagram and other social media.

How can I book in with Guest Artists?

Unless otherwise stated, guests handle their own bookings in the same way as our Residents. Please visit our “Guest Artist” page to find out who will be joining us over the next few months. There you will find all of the relevant information on each guest artist including their booking email address.

How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Please make sure you are hydrated and have eaten at least 2 hours before your tattoo appointment.

Drinking the night before is not recommended and we reserve the right to refuse any treatment if you arrive at your appointment under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

In addition, avoid tanning or applying any fake tan on the area to be tattooed, prior your appointment.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or breast feeding?

You cannot have a tattoo if you are pregnant and/or breast-feeding.

Although we practice the highest levels of infection control, it is not advisable. We advise this for your child’s health and safety as well as your own. The risk of any sort of infection could have more serious implications under these circumstances.

Can I get tattooed if I am under 18?

It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to be tattooed, regardless of parental consent.

How should I look after my new tattoo?

Please refer to our Aftercare

Do you offer tattooing with specialist inks such as Vegan, UV or White ink?

We do offer Vegan Ink, so if you wish for it to be used during your tattoo, please specify this to your Artist before your session.

We currently do not offer UV or White Ink tattoos.

Do you do piercings?

We do not offer piercings of any kind at Parliament Tattoo.

Can I bring a guest along with me to my tattoo appointment?

We kindly ask that you attend your appointment alone. Thank you.

Will I need to bring I.D.?

Yes, please make sure you carry any sort of identification on you that indicates your date of birth and full name, such as passport or a driving license.

Do I need to book in advance or can I just walk in?

We are a private studio therefore we do not currently take walk-ins unless stated. Please refer to the “how do I book a tattoo” question for further information on how to secure a tattoo appointment.

Occasionally we will host Flash Days and events where we encourage walk-ins. Join our mailing list here to be the first to know about any events happening at Parliament Tattoo.

What will happen during my tattoo appointment?

Please arrive to the studio at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment and remember to bring along some identification with you. We take a copy of everyone’s ID as stipulated by our license, so please come prepared with either a driving licence or passport.

Once you arrive to our studio, you will be welcomed and offered a drink while you fill out your consent form. We recommend that you read over our Consent Form before you visit as there are some conditions and circumstances that mean we may not be able to tattoo you.

The artist will be notified of your arrival and will come get you once they are ready.

Due to the nature of the work, appointment delays can happen for many reasons. We will notify you as soon as you arrive should your artist be running slightly behind schedule.

Following your tattoo procedure, you will be offered an after care form instructing you of the best practice for looking after your new tattoo. You can view a copy of this online here.

Can I see the tattoo design prior to my appointment?

Your chosen artist will present your design to you when you arrive for your appointment. You are welcome to make any changes to the design at that time. It is not possible for us to send designs ahead of your appointment.

Are their any health conditions which mean I can not get tattooed?

We recommend that you read over our Consent Form here before coming along to your appointment.

There are certain conditions and circumstances which mean that you will be unable to get tattooed, these include:

Pregnancy / Breast Feeding
Any Condition that compromises your Immune System
You suffer from Seizures

If you have a heart condition or diabetes, we ask that you consult with your Doctor and before the procedure.

If you suffer/have suffered from Hepatitis or you are HIV positive, you are obliged to inform us of it as stated in our consent form. We work under high levels of infection control so it is possible to be tattooed, however due to the nature of the procedure and personal risk involved, it’s at the artist’s discretion if he/she will proceed with the appointment.

How much will my tattoo cost?

The cost of your session is completely at the Artist’s discretion, and you will discuss and agree on it before your appointment. There is a chance this may fluctuate if you are continuing session work for example.

A deposit is needed to secure your appointment which is usually paid via PayPal directly to your chosen artist. The remainder of your payment is due at the end of your session. Please note we only accept cash.

The deposit is non-refundable, however you may reschedule your appointment if you inform the artist at least 48 hours before your appointment. This is at the artists discretion.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment methods are at each individual Artist’s discretion and they will let you know before your appointment. This will either be via PayPal, Bank Transfer or in cash. There are several cash points in the local area, but we would recommend that you come prepared ahead of your appointment.
